Active Learning through Play
Windsor is committed to fostering happy, confident, and independent lifelong initiative learners that are eager to explore, adept in innovation, unique in characters and respectful to others.
The theory of "active learning" is derived from the research results of many world famous educational experts, such as Vygotsky, Piaget, Bruner, Montessori, Skinner and so on. The teaching method of "learning through play" which is well planned by professional teachers accords with the nature as well as the characteristics and needs of physical and mental development of the child, which through pleasant, active and involving games, allows the child to acquire knowledge, build up abilities, promote the formation of optimistic, confident and independent characters, and cultivate the abilities of self-reliance, innovation and independent problem solving. Children who has "learned" in this way enjoy learning, exploring and innovating, understand how to communicate and share, and are good at solving problems, which lays a solid foundation for their becoming lifelong initiative learners.
"Play is indeed the child's work and the means whereby he grows and develops"
--British contemporary educator Susan Issacs
Early years foundation stage statutory framework (EYFS)as Core of the Curriculum
The EYFS Framework, abbreviated as EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage), is the fruit of comparative study of QCA (Britain Qualifications and Curriculum Authority, is the teaching quality assessment organization in UK) on pre-school curriculum in 20 major nations worldwide. It is the national curriculum standard for UK early years providers.
EYFSfeatures well-planned games that allow children to actively learn through play.
With EFYS as the core framework of the curriculum, Windsor follows the four basic principles of "unique child, positive relationship, enabling environment, learning and development", promoting and supporting the comprehensive development of young children in seven learning fields.
To this end:
"Immersing" Bilingual Teaching
Windsor has created a unique Chinese-English bilingual learning environment, where children in their language sensitive period of 2-6 years old can develop both Chinese and English language skills equally.
Experienced foreign teachers, according to the interests of the children, set up a variety of inquiry learning activities around different themes, and communicate with and guide students with pure English, which helps the children develop naturally their abilities in seven major fields-- Communication and language, Literacy and writing, Mathematics, Understanding the world, Physical development, Personal, social and emotional development as well as Expressive art and design; We also provide courses delivered in Chinese so that the children can improve both Chinese and English language skills equally and get all-round development.
